I’ve mentioned before that I used to run the biggest hobby company in the world so in this area I am somewhat of an expert (even if only self-proclaimed). With that in mind, here is a list of hobbies that you could try and remember that if you like doing it, do more of it!

  1. Reading
  2. HAM Radio
  3. Remote Controlled Model Airplanes and Helicopters
  4. Remote Controlled Model Cars
  5. Remote Controlled Model Boats
  6. Learn an instrument (I chose to learn guitar – read more here)
  7. Ballroom Dancing
  8. Wood Working
  9. Board Games – a great one for the whole family
  10. Poker – good fun with mates
  11. Sculpture – this could be as insane as carving a block of wood with a chainsaw or as ornate as molding some clay on your desk

  13. Jigsaw puzzles
  14. Fishing
  15. Origami – cheap and easily accessible (all you need is paper)
  16. Collect something – shoes, beer bottles, coke cans, watches, stamps
  17. Go-carting
  18. Baking – not just for the woman of the house, baking is actually very good fun. Think of it as a mix of chemistry, physics, alchemy and biology. There’s real skill in producing a sourdough pana-de-casa and it goes bloody well with a glass of wine!
